Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a prestigious national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture programs across India. It serves as the gateway to top institutions such as the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). Additionally, JEE Main is the qualifying exam for appearing in JEE Advanced — the entrance test for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
JEE Main is conducted in two sessions every year — typically in the months of January and April. This gives students a second chance to improve their scores within the same academic year. The exam is held in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format and is divided into two papers:
The exam pattern has undergone a few updates over the years, including the addition of numerical-based questions alongside multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Candidates are advised to keep a close eye on the official JEE Main website for the latest announcements regarding exam city slips, admit cards, application dates, and result declarations.
Qualifying JEE Main not only opens doors to top engineering institutes but also helps students benchmark their academic performance on a national level. It is advisable to start preparation early, practice mock tests, and stay updated with changes in the exam syllabus or structure.
Note: For the latest updates, always refer to the official JEE Main website (jeemain.nta.ac.in).
